REMOTE BUILDING INSPECTOR $30.00 per hour base pay
 

Description

We are seeking qualified remote Building or Residential Inspectors. This position can be a full-time, part-time or peak-time position working weekdays either from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or as demand warrants. High need for coverage weekdays from Noon until 4:30 pm. The ideal candidate must be reliable, consistent, personable, able to work independently and able to express ideas and give directions verbally without face-to-face contact. Constant ability to hear, see and speak using a personal computer and internet connection. Must have a thorough understanding of the Florida Building Codes and flood zone requirements. Ability to read building plans, engineering documents, energy forms and other documents typically found in the construction environment. Must be able to take direction and conform to inspection standards established by management. May be asked to perform special inspections at times outside of normally scheduled hours. Candidate DOES NOT have to be physically active, as inspections are performed remotely. Veterans and disabled meeting the minimum requirements are encouraged to apply. Your age is not an issue; we are interested in your knowledge, skills and experience. Note: your physical location is irrelevant as long as you have a reliable internet connection. This is a wonderful source of income for a retired or aging senior inspector who would still like to stay in the profession and contribute their talents to our firm. Your efforts will be rewarded.
 

Requirements

Current Active Standard Certification as a Building Inspector and/or Residential Inspector as defined in F.S. 468.603 through the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board. Minimum 3 years verifiable experience as a field inspector enforcing the Florida Building Code or ICC while employed by a jurisdiction or Private Provider is required. Ability to perform quality remote inspections with tact, efficiency and representing the values of this company. Ability to communicate effectively using voice and/or typed messages. Must possess ability to convey ideas, requirements and suggestions in a professional, courteous and non-confrontational manner. Keep and report required records. Ability to use proprietary software, as well as experience using Teams, Word and Excel. Additional Standard Certifications as an Electrical, Mechanical and/or Plumbing Inspector and/or Plans Examiner a plus. Preference will also be given to bi-lingual and multi-lingual speakers.
